of CARS: CARS is a nonprofit
and welfare scholarly association
serving a nationwide membership of aerodynamic scientists
and technologists,
dedicated to academic and engineering researching, meeting
convening, journal
publishing and science popularizing on aerodynamics by
organizing and uniting
aeronautic and astronautic research institutes, universities
and industrial
departments.)

History of CARS: Prof. Hsue-Shen
Tsien(Xuesen Qian) advocated establishing a
scientific organization of aerodynamics in 1978 and Chinese
Aerodynamics Research Society was founded in Shanghai
on June 10, 1980. Hsue-Shen Tsien(Xuesen Qian)
and Y. Shen(Yuan Shen) were elected as honorary presidents.
Fengkan Chwang(Fenggan Zhuang) was elected as the president,
and Hesun Cao,
et.al. were elected as vice-presidents, including 136
members of committee.
The organization was named Chinese Aerodynamics Research
Society and ratified
by Chinese Science Society on September 12, 1980. In September
1984, the second
representative meeting was held in Sichuan province, and
Hsue-Shen Tsien
(Xuesen Qian) and Y. Shen(Yuan Shen) were elected as honorary
council chairper-
sons. Fengkan Chwang(Fenggan Zhuang) was elected as council
chairperson, and
Hesun Cao, et.al. were elected as vice-council chairpersons,
including 109
council members. Decided by standing committee of CARS
and ratified by Chinese
Science Society in October 1989, the CARS was renamed
as Chinese Aerodynamics
Society, and was registered at Chinese Civil Administration
Department. Elected
by communication in 1994, Hsue-Shen Tsien(Xuesen Qian)
and Y. Shen(Yuan Shen)
were honorary council chairpersons, Fengkan Chwang(Fenggan
Zhuang) was council
chairperson, Hongru Yu, et.al were vice council chairpersons,
with 126 council
members. On June 12, 2002, the fourth representative meeting
was held in Mian-
yang, Sichuan province, and the fourth committee of CAS
was elected and Hsue
-Shen Tsien(Xuesen Qian), Y. Shen(Yuan Shen), and Fengkan
Chwang(Fenggan Zhuang)
were elected as honorary council chairpersons, Hanxin
Chwang(Hanxin Zhang) was
elected as council chairperson, Erjie Cui, et.al. were
elected as vice council
chairpersons, with 116 council members.
Scientific Organization: CARS
is comprised of nine professional committees —
Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics; Low speed,
Transonic and Supersonic
Aerodynamics; Hypersonic Aerodynamics; Physical Gas Dynamics;
Computational Fluid
Dynamics; Aero-Elastic Dynamics; Wind Powered Aerodynamics;
Flow Visualization;
Measurements and Controls, etc.
Publication: ACAT Aerodynamica
Sinica(quarterly), Experiments and Measurements in
Fluid Mechanics (quarterly)
Scientific Activities: Convening
worldwide and nationwide meetings independently
or with fraternal societies, in areas such as transonic
speed, hypersonic speed,
separated flow, vortices dynamics, unsteady flow, vortices
control, shock wave,
computational fluid dynamics, experimental fluid dynamics,
physical gas dynamics,
aero-elastics, gas diffusing, wind energy exploration,
wind engineering, flow
visualization, measurements and controls, etc.
